Dr. Matt Skillen
Dr. Matt Skillen is an Assistant Professor of English and the Director of English Education at Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, PA. Dr. Skillen teaches courses in composition and secondary teaching methods and he serves as a member of Elizabethtown College's Academic Council. Beyond his duties at Elizabethtown College, Matt is a member of the Board of Directors for the International Reading Association's Special Interest Group: Network of Adolescent Literature, and he is a member of the National Council of Teachers of English Middle Level Steering Committee.
Previously, Matt has taught seventh and eighth grade language arts students in traditional, inclusion, gifted and remedial settings. He is a recipient of the Kansas Horizon Award for exemplary service in the first year of teaching. Matt’s research interests include narrative inquiry, teacher education, School 2.0, and Young Adult literature.
